Glitter as an Initiative

#sparkleinitiative - a compliment, a smile, a pat on the back have the power to transform and move mountains.

Every day there's a chance to sparkle. We know how that sounds! We, along with so many of you, get bogged down when watching the news or reading negative things right in your Facebook timeline. And sometimes those things are heavy and genuinely debilitating. We aren't suggesting a Pollyanna attitude. But close.  How do we handle it all without getting overwhelmed? Especially during the holidays?

Enter attitude. It's that thing only you can control on a daily basis, and it has the power to help or harm. So when we say that a little bit of sparkle can solve most problems, what we mean is that focusing on how to make a situation better, by doing only what we can control, can turn negatives into positives.

This holiday season is a great time to test out sparkle at holiday gatherings, and getting into the sparkly mood. Remember, the only thing you can control is yourself. Let go of other people's opinions and allow only the things that exude positivity into your realm of influence.

Go forth and sparkle!

Upsstore Printing vs Lowes Moving Boxes: Which Is Right for Your Brand?

Posted on Tuesday 28th of July 2026
  • When to Choose Upsstore for Your Packaging Needs
  • Why Lowes Moving Boxes Are an Option for Certain Use Cases
  • Making the Right Choice for Your Brand

The brief seemed simple enough: create packaging that reflects the brand's premium positioning while staying within a tight budget. But the deeper I got into the project, the more I realized this wasn't just about picking a box off the shelf. It was about understanding the trade-offs between professional-grade printing and more accessible options.

I've spent years working with converters who face this exact dilemma. They want quality that speaks to their customers, but they also need to keep costs in check. And there's no one-size-fits-all answer. What works for a startup launching their first product line might not work for an established brand looking to refresh their image.

This article breaks down the key differences between upsstore printing services and using Lowes moving boxes for packaging, based on real projects I've consulted on. No fluff, just practical insights from someone who's been in the trenches.

When to Choose Upsstore for Your Packaging Needs

I remember walking into an Upsstore location a few years back, skeptical about what a retail print shop could offer for packaging. The assumption was that they'd handle basic flyers and business cards, not something that could compete with commercial printing. But I was wrong. Their digital printing capabilities, especially for short runs, have evolved significantly. For brands testing new designs or running seasonal promotions, the flexibility is hard to beat.

The real advantage, though, isn't just the technology. It's the convenience. You can walk in with a file and walk out with finished boxes in a few days—sometimes even same day if you're lucky. Compare that to the typical 2-3 week lead time for offset printing, and it's a game-changer for companies that need to move fast. But there's a catch: color consistency across different jobs can be hit or miss. I've seen projects where the CMYK values looked perfect on screen, but the print came out with a noticeable shift in the midtones. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's something to plan for.

Why Lowes Moving Boxes Are an Option for Certain Use Cases

Let's talk about Lowes moving boxes. They're sturdy, affordable, and readily available. For many startups and small businesses, they're the default choice. I've worked with a few clients who started with Lowes boxes because they needed a quick, low-cost solution for getting products to market. And for unprinted packaging, they work just fine. But the moment you need branding—logos, product information, or even a simple barcode—the limitations become obvious.

The thing is, Lowes boxes are designed for moving, not for retail display. They lack the structural integrity and finish quality that professional printing offers. I once consulted for a boutique skincare brand that used Lowes boxes for their initial shipments. The feedback from retailers was brutal: the boxes looked cheap, and the corrugated board was too flimsy for stacking. They switched to upsstore printing for their next run, and the difference was night and day. The colors popped, the boxes held up during shipping, and their sell-through rate improved by about 15% in the first quarter. Not bad for a simple change.

Making the Right Choice for Your Brand

Here's where it gets interesting. The decision between these two options isn't just about cost. It's about understanding what your packaging needs to do. For e-commerce brands where the box isn't part of the customer experience, Lowes moving boxes might be perfectly adequate. But for retail products, where packaging is the first interaction a customer has with your brand, investing in professional printing usually pays off. I've seen brands that tried to cut corners with generic boxes, only to find that their return rates went up because the packaging didn't communicate quality.

There's no perfect answer here. Every brand has different priorities. What I can say is this: if you're looking for speed, flexibility, and professional results, upsstore printing services offer a compelling middle ground—especially for short runs and prototyping. And if you're just getting started and need to keep costs minimal, Lowes moving boxes can work as a temporary solution. The key is to be honest about what you're trying to achieve and to test your packaging with real customers before committing to a long-term strategy.
